  1. It has got to be one of the most versitile piece of electronic I owe. I use ot for it's blueray capabilities as much as for it's gaming capabilities.

I have it connected to my home theatre and it lets me stream music (and video) from my PC. So, I always have my music library available. This is just one of the features. It has many more.

For the money you pay, you just can't go wrong.

    Enjoy it.
  2. The ps3 is an amazing machine. Don't think of it as just a game console because it does so much more than that. It does a phenomenal job upscaling regular dvd's to be viewed on large screen tv's, it allows you to stream media content (video, audio, web) to your tv wirelessly or wired, it allows you to surf the web, to communicate with other people via web, and it's the best Bluray disk player (it's upgradeable!) around. You can't go wrong with the ps3.
  3. We got our ps3 in February and after only 5 months, we have to send it in for repairs! It wouldn't read any discs, movies or games. I called Sony, they said we'd have to send it to Texas ( I live in Ohio) and get the repairs done and it would be shipped back. Pain in the rear!!! I am terribly unhappy that the unit only lasted this long. I'm feeling like I should have stayed w/ ps2, or gone to Wii. Sony customer service also needs some fine tuning.

  1. Not essential, but good to have (4 stars)
  2. Great remote for the PS3 system... (4 stars)
  3. Makes it so much easier.... (5 stars)

Customer Reviews

  1. This is remote is indispensible as the PS3 does not come with one. This is good to have if you're using the ps3 as a dvd player. Having the remote is more familiar than having to use the joystick to pick dvd menu items and such. This was a good buy.
  2. This is a very good remote. Way better than the old PS2 remote, in my opinion. I like that it's bluetooth because it uses low power consumption and the batteries last a while, but I guess my only complaint, which isn't really a complaint against this remote is that few aftermarket remotes support bluetooth yet. I have a Logitech Harmony Advanced Remote which works awesome with all of my A/V equipment, except for my PS3. Hopefully the bluetooth will catch on and more remotes will become compatible. It really would be nice to just have one remote (like the Logitech). All in all, this is a pretty nice remote!!!
  3. Using this remote to watch movies on the PS3 makes it so much easier. No having to guess what does R1 or L2 do for controls. HIGHLY recommend getting this if you plan to watch movies with the system, and since it is BluRay, you probably will!

  1. Not like the others at all (2 stars)
  2. Nothing Will Ever Be Epic Again (5 stars)
  3. Best Game for PS3 (5 stars)

Customer Reviews

  1. It's definitely a cinematic game, but that's its biggest downfall. It's impossible to simply pick-up-and-play this game; be ready to dedicate at least an hour to this game if you hope to play for twenty minutes.

For those looking for a game, and not a movie, buy a game, instead of Metal Gear Solid 4. It's that easy!
  2. First of all, I want to say that I had VERY high expectations for this game. I bought a Playstation 3 just to play this, and so to me, I was looking for $500 worth of gaming.

Saying that it delivered would be an understatement.

Now, if you've never played a game in the series, I'd suggest holding off on playing this. You could probably follow along, but one of the greatest joys in the game is seeing everything coming full circle. I don't think it's possible to fully appreciate this game if you're not already a fan of the series. The ending, for example, was beyond amazing...but maybe it won't be that way to you if you've never played the games before. It's worth the time to play through the first three...or at the very least, read about everything that happened in them, in order to get the most out of Metal Gear Solid 4. It's not going to mean much to you if [Character!] returns if you didn't see them in another game and wonder what happened to them. Things like that are important to the story, and to the experience....

For me, this game could stand on its cut scenes alone. There's a lot of them, and a lot of them are long, but they're REALLY good and they further the story. Now, I'm of the opinion that if you're not a fan of things like that you probably shouldn't be playing the Metal Gear Solid series...it's part of the package. If you feel like they "get in the way" of the game, you're probably better off playing something else.

Most of what stands out in my mind about the game isn't the actual running around killing people and hiding around corners part. I remember funny Codec conversations, what happens with Johnny and Meryl on Outer Haven, and Raiden delivering the most emo line ever said in a video game. If you've played it, I'm sure you know what I'm talking about. If not? You'll know it when you hear it (hint: you'll be laughing).

The end of the game is what sealed it for me, however. I knew before then that I was playing something special. But the end? It wasn't something that I saw. It was something that I witnessed. It was almost a spiritual experience. And if the game was worth its price just for the cut scenes, the ending is worth the price of a PS3.

The only word for it is EPIC. It was epic. And it inspired such awe in me, that once it was all over, the void left inside of me was almost overwhelming! And it's hard to talk about this without sounding like a nut, but there's no other explanation for it.

The question in my living room once the game ended was, "Can anything be epic again after this?"

The answer is no. Nothing will ever be epic again.
  3. Awesome storyline, game play, graphics, cut-scenes, etc. It's a beautiful game. The only negative is that some of the cut-scenes may be too long, but the graphics and storyline keep you interested.

  2. Amazon.com Product DescriptionMetal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots, is a next-gen experience complete with top-of-the-line graphics and surround sound designed for the Sony PlayStation 3. Featuring the most revealing display of Kojima Production's premier title, MSG4 details the world where Snake must under go his final mission. In a world overrun by private military companies (PMCs), wars are no longer fought over nations or ideologies. Instead, the wars of the future are micro-managed by overarching PMCs, right down to the bullet. New gadgets and abilities fuel Snake's journey deep into the enemy domains of the Middle East, South America, and beyond. New gear includes "Metal Gear Mk. II," the ultimate reconnaissance tool, and "Solid Eye," which gives Snake real-time information on enemies and his surroundings.

Joined by a familiar cast of characters, Snake must once again return to the battlefield to confront his lifelong rival, Liquid Ocelot, who is manipulating the world's wars from the one world where soldiers will always have a place. But Liquid Ocelot is not the only one who will be able to manipulate the world's wars--Snake can destabilize opposing forces by working behind the scenes, supporting the local militia as they fight PMCs, creating a smokescreen that allows Snake to move freely within the war-zone.

MGS4 is a next-generation adventure set in the aftermath of MGS2: Sons of Liberty. The concept behind the latest Metal Gear Solid project is "no place to hide," and this edition in the series will force Snake into unexpected circumstances with an all-new storyline that breaks away in some ways from the previous MGS franchise entries. We don't want to spoil it for you, but, producer Hideo Kojima did reveal some very juicy tidbits about the game and the storyline when it was first announced at E3 of 2006. "Until now," said Kojima, "we've released two entries of the MSX2 Metal Gear series, and three entries in the Metal Gear Solid series. Add to this Portable Ops, and you get a total of six titles. All mysteries will be cleared up in Metal Gear Solid 4."

Kojima was very clear about the finality of MSG4, leaving gamers to wonder, "Will Snake die?!" When asked if the story will come to this sort of an end, Kojima responded without the slightest bit of vagueness, "It will come to an end." The MGS4 E3 trailer showed a number of characters from the Metal Gear and Metal Gear Solid histories. This final installment is sure to deliver loads of cameos, in fact, it is rumored that nearly all the characters from the series will make an appearance.

In addition to a return of classic Metal Gear Solid characters, the gameplay systems from part three are also expected to make a comeback. The camouflage system from part three will make it into MGS4, with the addition of "OctoCamo," Snake's most advanced stealth suit to date. The name appears to be formed from the words "Octopus" and "camoflauge," and players will be awestruck by the chameleon-like camo that changes with the surroundings. OctoCamo allows Snake to blend in with his environment as it digitally manifests nearby textures in real time. Think if it this way, if Snake is standing next to a wall worn out with holes, he too will appear to be riddled with holes. It has also been revealed that MGS4 will have online play, but no specifics have been released. Although very little information is known about the game's visuals, rumor has it that MGS4 is expected to be the finest representation of console graphics on the PS3, and it is expected that they will just get better and better as the game nears its release date.

  1. This is the Sony brand PS3 Dualshock 3 Wireless Controller. The design on this controller is pretty much the same style as the PS2 controller. The only difference is the AXIS function. Which will allow you to tilt the controller in 2D.

Overall, the product is great, a bit weak on the Dualshock. But the best is having it wireless.
  2. Good seller with a great products. Fast and timely transactions. WOuld definitely buy from again.

  3. with the return of the dual shock it has restored that missing link for MGS4 on the PS3. Hopefully more games come out that are compatible and implement the Dual Shock 3 as well as Konami and Hideo Kojima were able to.

  1. Received package from Amazon. Opened and found headset was broken (snapped where the clamp meets the mic mount). Upon hooking up the Xbox 360, we found that component/HiDef output was not showing the right colors. Tested composite connection and colors were fine. Tried swapping the cable and found color output from component was still outputting funky colors (XBL games screen is light blue, etc.). Called MS and was told expect up to 4 weeks to repair it. This was tremendous news to my son who spent 6 months saving up for it. Thanks Microsoft, you shipped another dud.
  2. This console is awesome. IT is convenient to go online and download all the new game demos to see if I would actually like to buy them. I love the system link feature.
  3. I've owned my Xbox 360 for over 2 years now. The problems that I've had with it is not worth the headache. It's on it's way to be repaired (again), last year this time I was hit with the 3 red rings. It took Microsoft about 2 months to repair my system and send it back to me. When I finally did recieve the system back it was refurbished. I paid for a new system and was given a rebuilt system in return. This time around the CD tray stopped working, in the middle of the game it started to make this squeeling noise. When I restarted the system the tray would not stay closed, when it did, the disk couldn't be read. I called xbox support and wouldn't you know my Warranty expired last month. It's convenient that my system was being repaired last year this time, now my refurbished xbox is being repaired again, except it's out of my pocket. All in all the Xbox 360 is a worthless piece of garbage, and I would never buy another xbox console as long as I live.

    Xbox 360 with wireless controller
Xbox 360, shown with wireless controller, is a sleek, customizable gaming and entertainment system

    Under the Hood
Xbox 360 is much smaller than its predecessor--it measures approximately 3.3 by 12.2 by 10.2 inches and weighs 7.7 lbs. It's powered by custom IBM PowerPC-based CPU with three symmetrical cores each running at 3.2 GHz. It also carries a custom ATI graphics processor loaded with 10 MB of embedded DRAM, 48-way parallel floating-point dynamically scheduled shader pipelines and Unified shader architecture. This is powerful enough to draw 500 million triangles per second. In other words, it makes for great looking games in standard TV definition, and even better thanks to built-in support for HDTV 1080i televisions. It also supports the widescreen 16:9 format.

The unit has a 12x dual-layer DVD-ROM drive, which plays both the game media and progressive-scan DVD movies right out of the box. For game-save and media storage, users can choose between the detachable and upgradeable 20GB hard drive, or a separately sold 64MB flash Memory Unit. Along with storing files, the hard drive will make the Xbox 360 backward-compatible with part of the existing Xbox game library.

    Control your Gameplay
Xbox 360 uses a refined button layout for its controllers. Back and Start buttons sit at the center of the controller and between them is a new Xbox Guide button, which instantly takes the user to the Xbox 360 user interface. From there, they can check for friends online, access personal digital content like photos and songs, and more. The black and white buttons of the first Xbox controllers have been replaced with new shoulder buttons placed above the left and right triggers. Xbox 360 can accommodate up to four wireless controllers and has three USB 2.0 slots to use for wired controllers or for streaming your digital media from digital cameras, MP3 players, and any Windows XP-based PC. Microsoft has also created a video-conferencing camera, sold separately, that will work with the system.

    Xbox 360 user interface
Xbox 360 can manage your games, your online friends, and your personal digital library

    The Media Experience
All Xbox 360 titles can be played in either standard or high-definition resolution in 16:9 widescreen, with anti-aliasing for smoother graphics. Game designers will be able to take advantage of the system's multi-channel surround sound. The Xbox 360's digital media allows users to supplement any game's music from tracks in their own personal library.

    Go Live
A built-in Ethernet port allows users to connect their system to a broadband connection for access to Xbox Live. The Xbox Live Silver Membership included with the console lets anyone create a Gamertag and gamer card to express your online identity, chat live with voice chat, and connect to the Xbox Live Marketplace to buy expansions, maps, and other digital items for your games. You can also update to a Xbox Live Gold Membership at anytime for even more benefits. The separately sold wireless adapter supports the common 802.11a, -b, and -g standards.

  1. We bought Rock Band for the PS2 at Hastings and it would give a disc read error. When I checked online I found that happens frequently. I would say that you need to be very careful to only buy from a reputable business that will allow you to return this product if it doesn't work because I talked to both EA and Sony with absolutely no resolution.
  2. I am very happy with this game. Got it for cheaper than the stores and it came within two days! My kids love playing it. My husband does as well. Very good purchase.
  3. I bought the playstation 2 Rock Band Drum set for my sub-teen nephew and niece. I am age 67 and quite computer literate, but the children did not require my assistance for the basic hookup. Any instructions beyond the basic hookup of the wires were sparse to non-existant.

The drums and guitar work fine, the microphone is just so-so.

It will work OK "out of the box " but to get the best results, fine tune it. Most important is to set the ratio of playstation instrument sound to the background music. The default settings will hardly let you hear the PS instruments. Once again, no instructions, you must be a little digital literate. Go to audio setup, if you can find it.

In short, I am glad I bought it at a terrific price through Amazon, and Melanie and Brandon think I am the greatest Uncle who ever lived.

  1. this game is boring and unimaginative. Its just shoot, shoot, shoot. It takes a long time to get through one of their boring shooting scenes. I have played games for years. I've communed with animals, explored caves, roamed through Africa in other games. In this game, everything is stupid and predictable. I hate this game, its pure misery.
  2. This is my first experience with GTA and I'm very satisfied. The endings were little soft and the game did get a little repetitive, but it's a solid game. Well worth the price. Makes me want a 'What would Nico Bellic do?' tee-shirt... and where are the Nico Bellic endorsements? Why am I not seeing Nico jacking a Pepsi truck in primetime?
  3. This game is more fun, than the club on a saturday night. What I liked most of all was the character interaction. Sorta reminds me of how the guys, and myself interact with each other. Carjacking, who doesn't wish that at least once in your life you could do it, and get away with it (without hurting anyone). This game truly absorbs you into the life of Nick, and his crazy cousin, who has dreams of grandure, but doesn't know excatly how to get there. I could not stop playing, this games has it all, some parts laid back, some parts intense, and some wacky off the wall type stuff. you will love this game....If you don't have it yet GET IT, IT'S A MUST HAVE. For those of you who do have it .... way to go bro, and sis's. After all it's not just guys playing this anyway.

The best way to play is with a quality racing wheel. A regular controller does not do this game justice. I recommend the Logitech Pro GT, which was specifically designed for GT5:P. However, it has worked on nearly every PS3 racing game I've tried it with too.

Overall, GT5:P may not be a "full" game and is not without some flaws (no car damage modeling for example). But for true racing game fans as well as those interested in trying out the genre, this game makes for an excellent buy for the racing simulation experience.
  3. This game is hyped for its great graphics. That should give anyone pause because graphics alone don't make a game. The highest definition pictures only extend to the scenes when you are NOT actually playing the game. Once you are driving ---- the graphics quality drops and while you still have very good graphics they are far from photo-realistic pictures you see elsewhere. (I'm using a HDTV, connected via HDMI, at 1080p)

The graphics you see when actually playing the game are good but far from stunning. As noted - graphics alone don't make a game anyway.

Another claim of this game is that it is a driving simulator. That claim is very questionable. At the basic settings you can do crazy things like hit your brakes at their maximum and still steer with relative ease. I'm sure that makes the game playable but not realistic.

If you even want to even approach a simulation you will need a steering wheel with gas/brake pedals. Logitech sells one for about $120 here on Amazon. The regular Playstation controller does not give you the finese to even approach a simulation. Still the physics seem odd even with a wheel and the game set at advanced physics settings.

On-line racing (the reason I purchased the game) is horrible. You can't meet up with a friends at all. Select a race and you'll be grouped with a bunch of strangers (no options - no on-line lobby). Play consists largely of each player trying to ram other players off the track. Even if you are not rammed off the track (which is very doubtful), you'll find you will lose the race because you have not mastered the art of crashing into barriers at high speed. Done right - you can smash into a guardrail at an insane speed and you'll pass all your opponents. In short: on-line racing consists of bumper cars and learning where to crash. As far as a simulation goes - online racing is a total failure.

If you are just looking for a game to play and aren't expecting much of a simulation this game may suit you. Like any game you'll learn how to play it and I'm sure then enjoy it. For many - going on-line and playing an engaging game of bumper cars suits them.

  1. Amazon.comThe award-winning Gran Turismo franchise returns with its 5th installment, Gran Turismo 5 Prologue, exclusively for PlayStation 3. With its signature realism and unrivaled physics, this highly anticipated precursor to Gran Turismo 5 continues to blur the line between simulation and reality.

"Prologue" is defined as an introductory or preceding event or development, and true to every letter, Gran Turismo 5: Prologue treats both long-time fans of the Gran Turismo franchise as well as those coming to it new, with a generous sampling of what they can expect to see in Gran Turismo 5 later in the year and further releases on the PS3.

    Developed By the Best
Polyphony Digital is the developer of the Gran Turismo franchise, led by creator Kazunori Yamauchi. Polyphony Digital is known for pushing the limits of the PlayStation hardware, and with its realistic graphics and physics, Gran Turismo 5: Prologue is no different. In addition to receiving CAD data from the auto manufacturers, they have taken thousands of photos to model each car (and track). As an example of the level of detail, a car in Gran Turismo 4 has the same number of polygons as a headlight in Gran Turismo 5: Prologue.

Polyphony works even closer with the automotive industry to make sure that the cars look and drive just as they do in real life. In fact, Kazunori Yamauchi designed the on-board computer for the real Nissan GT-R. If you're lucky to buy one when it releases, you will notice the Polyphony Digital logo when you start your car.

Take Your Cars and Tracks Online and Off
Gran Turismo 5: Prologue features over 60 stunning cars - including vehicles by Lotus, Mitsubishi, Nissan and Ferrari for you to race on seriously realistic, real-life tracks: including the Eiger Nordwand, the London City Track and Suzuka - all rendered in incredible High Definition graphics. There's also all-new driving physics for the most lifelike driving experience ever and new, improved opponent artificial intelligence for the toughest race challenge yet.

But that's not all - for the first time ever in the history of Gran Turismo, players will now be able to race online. Up to 16 players will be able to go head-to-head on some of the world's best racetracks on PlayStation Network. All you need to get racing is a broadband connection and PS3. Once you're up and revving, Global Online Rankings and the My Garage homepage feature will leave the world in n o doubt as to just who is the best at Gran Turismo.

And then there's the Online Dealership, providing a wealth of information on cars and manufacturers and also Gran Turismo TV - a dedicated online channel available exclusively from PSN and packed with some of the greatest content that Motorsport, car manufacturers and TV has to offer.

    Key Features:

    • Race over 60 cars from worldwide automotive manufacturers, precisely modeled both inside and out.
    • All-new interior dash view, featuring full driver animation and working gauges.

  3. Better than last year's (4 stars)

Customer Reviews

  1. I love this game its way better than last year versions; the only thing I can't figure out is to pump fake. But I rush my self throwing sometimes because of last years nano jump the snap glitch they really took care of that; even for me I don't rush the passer like I used to but the game is really fun.
  2. This game surpasses all college football games out there today. Once again EA has caught the bull by the tail. Whether you play in dynasty mode, or become a legend in legend mode, noone get's you in the game like ea does. If you want true to life, and you want that feeling like you are in the stadium, then here it is. This so true, you can almost smell the hot dogs, and hamburgers. The online feature is there to connect you to the rest of the ea nation, everyone is represented East Coast, West Coast, Beginner's, or create your own league, and invite upto 31 friends to take part. The player animation's are more robust than years past, and all the excitement of the college game is in the game. Stiff arm, twist, turn, juke, side step, and take it to the big house. Got a mascot, then celebrate your touchdown with him. Cheerleader's, yeah we got 'em. NEW... I'll tell you what's new in this years version... you want to ice the kicker, then call that late time out, and watch the kick meter ice over, now hidden from view timing is everything. Shake your opponet by getting the crowd in a frenzy. Getting that national championship is not going to be easy.....Not this year.
  3. Right at the start of each game, as soon as you start playing youll already say this is better than last years. If you like passing the ball, this game is a dream come true. Its true what they say, its more wide open than ever. This years NCAA FOOTBALL game is definitely all about Offense, although i think its a little easier to stop the run.

anyways buy this football game and enjoy.
    ps
was i the only person to notice that FSU is better than USC. what the heck is that all about? FSU is probably the greatest football team in videogame histroy! (im not a seminole fan either)

Customer Review Summaries:
  1. Fun, but not as deep as other Civ games (4 stars)
  2. Flawed but still engrossing (4 stars)
  3. Very sad... (1 stars)

Customer Reviews

  1. I think of this game as "Civ Light". It lacks much of the depth of other Civ games, and seems designed to be easier and faster to play. Some examples: the map is very small, and you have no control over the map size or type. You no longer build roads square by square, but instead create them instantly (for large amounts of money) and only between cities. There are no railroads (roads now act much like railroads).

In terms of gameplay, because the map is so small, it tends to feel very crowded -- you'll run into multiple civilizations early on, not too far from where your own settlers begin. Often the whole map will have only one major continent. As a result, it's pretty much a scramble to grab as much of this meager territory as you can early in the game. Then, once you develop a single tank army (by building and combining three tanks), you can pretty much take any city with it, and just walk around the map mopping up. So there is definitely a difficult mid-game phase where you risk losing cities to attacks or culture, but after that there's a pretty long clean-up phase where your win is inevitable.

It's still fun, but as a more shallow game, the fun is likely to wear off a lot sooner than it would with the older, deeper versions of Civ. Still, even a shallow Civ is better than no Civ, so I'm happy to see that it's come to new game systems.
  2. There is no getting away from the fact this version of Civilization is dumbed down compared with the great games from its heritage. It also has plenty of flaws including its control system, overall depth and graphical performance (jerkiness and slow scrolling speeds). Having said that, I'm totally hooked. Strategy games are my favorite genre and in the absence of any decent strategy games so far for the PS3, this is a breath of fresh air from all the racing games and first-person shooters that otherwise dominate on the platform. For anyone looking for something different on the PS3 and can accept the games minor annoyances, take a look. If you are a die-hard civilization fan then you might find this a little difficult to swallow - maybe stick to the PC versions.
  3. I so wanted to like this game, been a Civ fan for years. I've been trying to like it for two weeks now, but it is horrible. Poor game play, insipid and annoying. Not really Civ at all... it's more like a description of Civ given by Ritalin deprived forth grader as a book report, except a forth grader would imagine better game play. Also, $60 for this... really?! A very sad turn for Civ.
